A full day in third grade: The Grimm Brothers, division, choral reading, nonfiction, matching words and phrases, and potential and kinetic energy

We had a terrific Tuesday!  I can’t believe how quickly the time is flying!

We started with a passage about the Grimm Brothers and their tales.

In math we worked more with division.  We did workbook pages 55 and 56.  It is amazing how easily these students get through the practice pages after we have “played” with division a few times.

In reading we read last night’s story chorally.  We also discussed nonfiction and what makes this book nonfiction.  Then we read a short passage about the Wright Brothers and answered questions directed at STEMS thinking.

In language arts we worked with matching words/phrases that meant about the same as a given word.

In spelling we wrote our words in a step ladder fashion.

In science we started our Fossils to Fuel curriculum.  Ask your child about potential and kinetic energy.
