Goodbye to my Broadmoore friends

Well, as promised, I am writing an end-of-the-year post. We will see if I can finish this one without tears.

I was doing so well as I packed up my room.  In my head I thought I was okay and over the move.  But as I took the last walk out the north doors, knowing I had no key and wouldn't be getting in on my own, the tears came.  And they flowed from Moore to Shawnee, as my husband and I drove the U-Haul to my new school, Will Rogers Elementary.

Please know that I will keep all of my Broadmoore families in my heart always.  I am so fortunate to have known and work with all of you!  Shawnee isn't that far, and I will be in Moore from time to time.  If any of you are ever in Shawnee, please let me know.  My phone is still the same.

I am so proud of my Jewels/Crystals.

Thank you, again, for seven great years!

Students and teacher celebrate last day of school

Parents, this has been an emotional day for this teacher.  It always is at year's end, and all the more so because I am leaving the Broadmoore family.  I do want to talk to you one last time, but I have too many feelings today to sort everything out.  So please check back at this blog by Monday and I'll have a final message up.  If you miss it Monday, just check in later -- it'll be up for several weeks.

And in the meantime, enjoy our last day of school pictures:

Students enjoy Broadmoore talent show

The teacher missed part of the class day today -- I finally gave in to the excruciating tooth pain I have been having for several days and went to the dentist to have the offending tooth extracted. After I woke up (OK, I'm dentist-phobic and have my dental work done while I sleep through the whole procedure), I headed back to school.

I wouldn't have missed our talent show for anything!  Check out some of the photos below:

Third graders make murals reviewing their year

Today we made individual murals of our year in third grade.

We also reviewed several math skills in a game.

We watched one of my favorite movies ever -- Mary Poppins!

I can’t believe we only have three days!

Students participate in awards assembly

We had a great day, starting with our awards assembly.  In third grade not all students get awards.  That is hard for some of the children, but it shows that they have to work for something.  That is why we call a student up one at a time, so that it doesn’t draw attention to any that might not have received one.

We corrected incorrect sentences today, as well as did some silent reading.

We worked with similes, also.  We had to make a creature, using the similes provided.  For example: The creature was as skinny as a pencil.

We read some nonfiction passages about space today.  They enjoyed reading them.

Have a great Monday evening!
