Young writers work with poetry

We had a wonderful Wednesday!

We started by finishing yesterday’s spelling assignment.

In math we worked with  measurement.  We also worked with equivalent types of  measurement.  For example, since there are 12 inches in one foot, how many would be in three feet, or a yard?

In reading we read silently.  Our specials were changed so that interrupted our reading.  Our schedule will be back to normal next week.  We also wrote an “I like” poem.  Each verse, or stanza, had to include one thing you liked and one thing about the same thing that you didn’t like.

Examples:

I like the beach,
But I don’t like getting sunburned.

I like bacon,
But I don’t like it when it burned to a crisp.

I like summer,
But I don’t like being away from my Crystals

They had to write a minimum of 5 verses.

In science we used the remote control cars to show kinetic energy.  We also looked at Matchbox cars.  We drew them in our notebooks and wrote about things we could observe from just looking at each car.
