Class works on using money, writing stories

We had a great Monday!  Thank you for all of the sweets and treats!  I feel very spoiled!  I appreciate it.

We worked with money today.  We played money bingo.  Then we used real coins and answered questions about certain coins.  I put 6 of each:  quarter, dime, nickel, and penny.  Then we wrote amounts for given question.  Example:  What is the value of the quarters?  Then we took turns drawing coins out of the sack.  I wrote them on the board (ex.  3 q, 2 d) and they had to write the amount.

In reading we read some more in our Boxcar Children book.  They need to read chapter 9 tonight.  We will finish the book tomorrow.  We also worked on Poetry Ringo.

We wrote stories today.  First we had to choose a scene from 4 choices.  (I had them run already.)  They were all outdoor scenes.  Then they chose characters and objects from another page.  After they  had the scene the way they wanted it, they wrote a story to go along with it.

We are not doing spelling anymore.  We will continue to work on vocabulary and usage, but no more spelling lists for the year. They enjoyed that announcement.
