Today in third: from 'aha' moments to airplane competition

We had a great day today in third grade.

We started with a time line based on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life.

In math we worked with shapes an quadrilateral.  We first talked about words they knew that started with “quad” and what it meant.  It was a great introduction.  It was an “aha” moment for many.

We went to computers during our reading time.

We took an open book quiz over last week’s story, “Big Ideas From Nature.”  We also worked on our individual SRAs.

In science we made, tested, and flew our airplanes for the district wide Science Olympics.  Our top team with a 9.18 meter flight was Kohen and Joey.  Congratulations!  They will compete against the other third grades here at Broadmoore tomorrow.  The winner of tomorrow’s competition will compete against the other third grades in the district.

Book orders are due tomorrow.
