We had a terrific Tuesday in
third grade.
For bell work we finished our
hidden pictures or our Santas.
In math we worked on graphing
information. We first used tally marks. Then we did a chart as a
class using favorite colors, before doing our individual assignment.
In reading we read The Year
of the Perfect Christmas Tree by Gloria Houston. She passed away a
couple of years ago, sadly. She was a good friend. The day before
she died her daughter read letters from my class that told her what they liked
about this particular book. She sent us a cd where she was reading the
story. We listened to that today. I also passed out a project
paper. Please look over this with your child. We also read a
passage about George Washington. There were ten sentences written about
the passage, but in each was at least one incorrect word. They had to
cross out the wrong word(s) and write the correct one on the line.
This afternoon we took some
time to read silently, get on Lexia, or play the math or reading Usborne games.
Broadmoore ornaments are on
sale for $3 right now. I love these! I have at least one from every
year since we started this.
Also, we will go to the Elf
Store to actually shop tomorrow. Please send money with your child if you
want him or her to buy. They will not be allowed to call home.
Remember, Mrs. Carter’s last
day is December 12, and I am putting together a bag of teacher supplies for
her. Please send any items you would like to add.
Have a wonderful evening!
