Students read 'Mr. Popper,' learn about analogies

We had a magnificent Monday in third grade!

We started with some multiplication practice for bell work.

In math we revisited perimeter and made shapes given a certain perimeter.

In reading we started Mr. Popper’s Penguins.  We read chapters 1 and 2.  That is the reading assignment for tonight.  We also summarized those two chapters in our individual booklets we made.  We worked with analogies, as well. We added the definition to our writer’s notebook and wrote a few examples, before being assigned a page of them.

We wrote our words rainbow style in spelling. Our words are:  pointing, oily, boy, voice, oyster, voyage, loyal, joined, coin, choice, poison, destroy, enjoy, choose, chocolate.

In art we drew a Valentine bear step-by-step.

Don’t forget that the Thunder Reading Challenge sheets are due this Thursday, Feb. 1.
